BIO
Shantel Han is a classically trained pianist who started learning piano at the age of 6. She has earned recognition in numerous solo and concerto competitions, including First Prize in the Young Artist Solo Division of the University of Utah SummerArts Competition. Shantel has also appeared as a featured soloist with the American West Symphony, performing works such as Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
She has participated in the Sid & Mary Foulger International Music Festival (2013, 2014) and the Interharmony International Music Festival in Italy (2017), where she received intensive chamber music coaching and piano instruction. Shantel was also selected to represent the University of Utah in a masterclass with Hans Boepple at the 2018 UMTA Conference and was nominated for the College of Fine Arts Outstanding Senior Award. In 2021, she attended a weeklong intensive piano course in La Balie, France.

Shantel earned both her Bachelor of Music (with dual emphases in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy) and Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Utah. She was a recipient of several academic and merit-based scholarships, including the Gerald B. Tracy Memorial Piano Endowed Scholarship, the Emma Eccles Jones Fine Arts Leadership House Endowed Scholarship, and the J. George Jones College of Fine Arts Advisory Board Scholarship—awarded annually to two outstanding juniors in their field. Her principal teachers include Dr. Yu-Jane Yang, Jeffrey Price, Vedrana Subotic, and Viktor Valkov. She has also participated in masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Catherine Rollin, Bruno Canino, Paulina Zamora, Paula da Matta, Christopher O’Riley, Boris Berman, and others.
As an educator, Shantel has worked with students of all ages and levels since 2016. She began teaching both group and private lessons through preparatory and outreach programs, eventually establishing her own private studio in Salt Lake City before relocating to Jersey City in 2024. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes building technically sound, expressive, and well-rounded musicians who develop a lifelong love for music. She is a member of the Steinway & Sons Teacher & Educational Partnership Program and is experienced in preparing students for ABRSM exams, competitions, and college auditions.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Shantel completed a minor in drawing, merging her love for art and music. She remains open to creative collaborations across disciplines.
